First Look At ‘Mary Queen Of Scots’ Official Poster | Film News

For those who love historical dramas and for those who can’t wait to see the next fantastic performance of Lady Bird interpreter Saoirse Ronan, you can now at least start to satisfy your hunger as the posters for Mary Queen Of Scots are out on preview.

Its a Focus Features production helmed by British director Josie Rourke, based on the 2004 book My Heart is My Own: The Life of Mary Queen of Scots by John Guy.

Filming took place in seven locations around the UK, and is all about the life of power women Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, reconceived in a sort of feminist key.

A very young Mary, already widowed after husband King Francis II passed away, aims to return to Scotland from France, where she moved to at the age of 5. There, she reclaims her rightful throne, but must face her rival Queen Elizabeth I, who currently rules both Scotland and England.

The film stars Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan as the protagonist Mary Stuart, while Australian actress Margot Robbie plays Queen Elizabeth of England. The two are rivals in power and in love, and also represent an example of strong female regents in a masculine world.

The movie will be released in the UK on January 19 2019, with US screenings planned for December 7. For now, you can get inspired by the impressive character poster.
