At first it was thought to be an April Fools’ prank, then filming was said to have been wrapped up early, then it was rumoured to have been scrapped entirely. But it’s true – Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have teamed up with US network Lifetime for their TV movie project A Deadly Adoption, and it’s hitting television screens next weekend. Lifetime released their first trailer for the film on Thursday.
The film, said to be inspired by a true story, stars Ferrell and Wiig as a couple who care for a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes) in the hope of adopting her baby. But, as evidenced in the trailer, things start to go very badly wrong for the three of them. Fans of Ferrell’s classic over-the-top comedy might be a little disappointed as the film is reportedly being played pretty straight – but the intriguing storyline, coupled with the novelty of two very different actors coming together on such an unusual project, make this a must-see. A Deadly Adoption comes to Lifetime next Saturday, June 20.
