Four Tet Releases Collaboration With Painter Anna Liber Lewis | Music News

Four Tet has released his new EP called Anna Painting. He recorded the three-track album in collaboration with painter Anna Liber Lewis.

The English producer and the London-based painter have been friends since childhood and recently they engaged in a joint project for their audiovisual exhibition called Muscle Memory, open at London’s Elephant West gallery from January until March this year.

Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden wrote on his Bandcamp page: “Anna and I have known each other almost all our lives. We grew up in London with overlapping social circles and shared early music experiences as teenagers.

The collaboration unfolded over several months. We worked in tandem from conversation and correspondence. I made music and Anna responded to it with drawings and paintings, apart from the last track, which I made after having seen her work”.

Anna Painting follows Four Tet’s most recent studio album New Energy, released in 2017. Over the last two years, the producer shared two live records, Live at Funkhaus Berlin, 10th May 2018 and Live at Alexandra Palace London, 8th and 9th May 2019.

Four Tet also released three new singles earlier this year, “Teenage Birdsong”, “Dreamers” and his version of Nelly Furtado’s “Afraid” titled “Only Human”.
