‘Game Of Thrones’ Actor Finn Jones To Play Iron Fist | TV News

NEW YORK-MAR 18: Actor Finn Jones attends the ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 4 premiere at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center on March 18, 2014 in New York City.

The final piece of Marvel’s TV project The Defenders has slotted into place. With the emergence of Daredevil and Jessica Jones as successful superhero TV series, Marvel made the call to expand their TV universe with series focusing on Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Audiences are already acquainted with Luke Cage, having seen him in Marvel’s Jessica Jones, but the role of Iron Fist was still a mystery. No longer, as Finn Jones, famous for playing pretty boy Loras Tyrell in Game of Throneshas been cast as the martial arts expert.

Iron Fist (real name Daniel Rand) is a martial arts expert who also wields a mysterious force known as the Iron Fist, which allows him to enhance his strength, speed, agility, durability, stamina and reflexes to superhuman levels.

Without a doubt Iron Fist is the most mysterious of the 4 TV superheroes and it will be interesting to see whether they keep his origin story in place of a more modern explanation. His original origin story had him plunging his fists into the heart of a dragon.

Filming for the series is due to commence in April, though it is unknown when the series will debut on Netflix as the second season of Daredevil is due for release in March and Marvel’s Luke Cage is filming and due for release at some point this year. Keep a look out for more news on Iron Fist as it comes.
