Upcoming Australian singer Georgi Kay is ready to woo you with her new music video for her single “Lone Wolf“. The song will feature on her debut album Where I Go To Disappear, set for a November 2 release.
The singer premiered the video exclusively on Billboard, with whom she also sat down for a lengthy interview about her music and herself.
Amid working on her debut project, Kay, who now lives in Los Angeles and identifies as gay, is ready to open up more about herself and her songwriting process. Describing herself as loner, she likes to completely isolate herself when she is writing, stating that “no one is ever going to understand me like I do, no matter how hard they try”.
In the aptly titled “Lone Wolf”, then, Kay is incapsulating this feeling of loneliness and solitude as she wanders around a desolated land with her t-shirt torn apart. Thrown into the wild, the singer sings about the impossibility of changing her destined path (“there is nothing you can do / I will always be a lone wolf“).
In this pop-synth track, the music elements are keep to a bare minimum, as everything is focused on Kay and the text of the song. Her warm vocals help empathizing with her situation and manage to convey a strong sense of self-confidence that the song incorporates with sturdy and pulsing beats.
