The 22-years-old American model Gigi Hadid has just announced on her Twitter profile that she will not walk in this year Victoria Secret Show.
“I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can’t wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can’t wait for next year!“, she said.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of the biggest events in the fashion world, with major supermodels taking part in it. Indeed since 2015, Gigi has always walked on this runway, but for 2017, the lingerie brand has lost one of its best angels.
We don’t have any clear reason about this choice, but what is sure is that in these days there have been rumours of models and bloggers having issues getting visas approved because of the setting of the show in Shangai, China.
Many Russian and Ukrainian supermodels have been seen their visa disapproved, and models such as Irina Shaipova, Dasha Khlystum, Julia Belyakova and Kate Grigorieva will not participate to the show this year. There are also rumors about Gigi, who was among the models with this kind of issue.
Others, instead, associate this fact to a video shared months ago, where the model was mocking Asians, and consequently was accused of racism.
By the way, her sister Bella Hadid will take part in the show, saying, “I am so excited! Can’t wait to see you Shanghai“. Other models who will walk in 2017 catwalk are Sara Sampaio, Lair Ribeiro, Jasmine Tookes and Lily Aldridge.
