The latest episode of Gotham continues to improve on its previously flawed structure and begins to add a thriller element. There is tension to this episode as Theo Glavanan (James Frain) aims to create some time to manipulate the young Bruce Wayne by distracting the stoic Jim Gordon (Ben McKensie).

The distraction is Barbara (Erin Richards) who has gone from one of the most boring characters in season one to one of the most complex and watchable. Richards once again goes full Harley Quinn in her attempt to manipulate Gordon. McKensie almost lets some emotion creep into his performance as Richards steals the show. The great Morena Baccarin is once again hampered by a poor script, but she features in some visually creative moments looking at the glass at Barbara.

Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Sean Pertwee‘s Alfred continue to cement their relationship with great dialogue and an impressive future Bat-Cave setting.

The episode is stolen by the villain, Barbara and ends with a great cliffhanger that has made me excited to see the next episode. Trying not to get my hopes up too much as I’ve been burnt by this show before but fingers crossed this trend continues.
