‘Grease’ Prequel Series ‘Rise Of The Pink Ladies’ Coming To Paramount+

A prequel series to Grease has been announced by Paramount+ and the plot will be focusing on events that happened four years before the original Grease movie. This prequel will offer a story into the high school girl gang called ‘Pink Ladies’ and it will have 10 one hour-long episodes.

Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies will focus on four original characters, members of the Pink Ladies gang: Rizzo, Jan, Marty and Frenchy, just before Olivia Newton-John’s Sandy Olsson comes into the picture. The title suggest an origin story and a focus on its popular women characters.

The new series is set to have the same location – Rydell High. The four characters will band together to “spark a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever“, according to the plot.

The prequel will be written by Annabel Oakes, the producer, writer and director of Netflix’s Atypical. She’ll also act as a showrunner and will executive produce the series alongside Marty Bowen and Erik Feig, who are working on a different Grease prequel film Summer Lovin’. That prequel is set during Danny and Sandy’s fling between junior and senior year.

There’s no start date for production yet and no casting announcements have been made so far. Now we can only wait for the next piece of news and announcements on the series.
