Gucci Heir Accuses ‘House Of Gucci’ Film Of Stealing The Family’s Identity | Film News

The upcoming movie House Of Gucci is starting to create some controversy within the Gucci family. Indeed, some members of the famous family have recently made it clear that they were unhappy about the image that the film is giving of the family.

Patrizia Gucci, the great-grandchild of Guccio Gucci, who is the grand-father of the movie’s protagonist Maurizio, stated that she is worried the film “goes beyond the headline-grabbing true-crime story and pries into the private lives of the Guccio Gucci heirs”.

In fact, speaking on the behalf of the family, she has reproached the movie for exaggerating and romanticizing the story of the family, famous for its luxury haute couture house, to sell and make profit.

“They are stealing the identity of a family, to increase the income of the Hollywood system… Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything, but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed”.

The family also criticized the film for not respecting the aesthetics of the family, especially their clothes and outfits, which they feel are not accurate. Patrizia also declared that the family would make a decision on further action after re-watching the film.

This film which is one of the most anticipated of the year 2021, depicts the real-life murder of Maurizio Gucci, the former head of Gucci, played by Adam Driver, who was shot dead in 1995 in Italy, and the conviction of his wife Patrizia Reggiani, played by Lady Gaga, who was accused for organising the murder.

The release date of the film, which is currently in production and for which pictures are gradually being revealed, is scheduled for November 24.
