Guillermo Del Toro Planning Trilogy With ‘Trollhunters’ Spinoff Series | TV News
With fans eagerly anticipating the second season of Dreamworks’ Trollhunters of Netflix later this year from the visionary Guillermo Del Toro, they’ve just been treated to even better news. It turns out the Emmy-winning series was just the tip of the iceberg, as the series was just the first instalment of a three part epic trilogy to be dubbed Dreamworks’ Tales Of Arcadia.
Companion series 3 Below will debut in 2018, with Wizards following in 2019. The former will focus on aliens, and the latter on, well, wizards.
Del Toro announced the news himself during a screening of the upcoming second part of Trollhunters, with a brief teaser showing how the shows will tie together. While it’s easy to look at this announcement on the surface as a cynical way to expand a popular show into the dreaded territory of “shared universes”, Del Toro will have his hands all over the project and should keep the magic alive for each series.
“On the surface, Arcadia appears to be a slice of timeless Americana, but it is no ordinary town. It lies at the center of magical and mystical lines that will make it a nexus for many battles among otherworldly creatures including trolls, aliens and wizards.
From visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, the world of DreamWorks Trollhunters is set to expand into a trilogy of series called Tales of Arcadia. Trolls were just the beginning”.
It’s the perfect time for new fans to come aboard, with the second season of Trollhunters set to debut on all Netflix territories on Friday, December 15.
