Guillermo Del Toro To Produce Horror Remake ‘Terrified’ For Fox Searchlight | Film News

Guillermo Del Toro has agreed to produce the English-language remake of last year’s Argentinian horror film Terrified for Fox Searchlight. Sacha Gervasi (The Terminal) is set to write the script, while Demián Rugna, who directed the original film from his own script, will also helm this version.

The original Terrified is set in a neighbourhood in Buenos Aires where a doctor who specialises in the paranormal, her colleague, and an ex-police officer investigate horrifying events and attempt to stop the evil before it spreads. It has gotten solid reviews and, perhaps unsurprisingly considering the title, is known for having some impressive scares.

Del Toro producing is a part of a deal he signed with Fox Searchlight in April, after he picked up two Oscar wins for The Shape Of Water. The deal covers live-action feature films to be written, produced, and/or directed by the filmmaker.

This sounds like a project tailor made for Del Toro, and it means he’s still one of Hollywood‘s busiest workers even after his Oscar win. He’s also producing in-development projects such as Nightmare Alley, Antlers, and Pinocchio, while his next project is Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, which he produced for director André Øvredal (The Autopsy Of Jane Doe).

That film is due to hit cinemas August 9, 2019, and we’ll keep an eye on news regarding the Terrified remake as it heads into production.
