Horror film director Wes craven has died at his Los Angeles home, on Sunday (August 30), at the aged of 76 after a battle with brain cancer. Craven wrote and directed the first Nightmare On Elm Street and also the Scream series. His first ever feature film was The Last House on the Left in 1972. Cravens first Nightmare On Elm Street reinvented the teen horror genre and featured one of the most terrifying villains to this day Freddy Krueger and also featured the then unknown actor Johnny Depp.

 

Courtney Cox played a news reporter in the Scream series and said of the sad news “Today the world lost a great man, my friend and mentor, Wes Craven. My heart goes out to his family x“. Rose McGowan who also starred in the original Scream said “Thank you for being the kindest man, the gentlest man, and one of the smartest men I’ve known. Please say there’s a plot twist“.

 

This is a sad day for horror fans across the world. Our condolences go out to all his family and friends.
