Now it is Claire’s (Robin Wright) turn to deliver a political blow to the incumbent president. Frank (Kevin Spacey) continues to isolate himself as the suspicion percolates to unbearable levels. This is often worsened by the paranoid Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) with his less than subtle threats.

Claire relishes the reveal of her betrayal and likely loss of the primary in his home state. This leads to an overspill of pent up resentment and a more controlled discussion initiated by the ever ambitious Claire. There is a brief but brutal fourth wall moment where Underwood unleashes his anger.

Lucas’ (Sebastian Arcelus) crusade develops in the classic House of Cards way like chess pieces being manipulated into position.
