Rising R&B star Jamal Woon addresses the pressures of mental affliction and depression in artistic form with his new video for “Keep Your Distance“. Released on New Years Day, the visuals co-directed by himself and Dani Carroll are a strong way to start off a hopefully successful 2018.
“It’s ok, to not be ok.”
That is the mantra that summarises the concept of the video. The solemn black and white video stars Jamal alongside others mouthing the powerful words to his song, matched with simple and beautiful guitar chords. No frills, no bells, no whistles, the video also features the poetic words of Thea Gajic which truly helps carry the essence of the song.
Mental health is a topic that definitely deserves it’s fair share of the spotlight as a sensitive subject that truly affects many so we commend the South London singer for his take.
