The non-existent promotion of Unbreakable goes ahead, but Janet Jackson has picked up another new single from her latest music project. After passing completely unnoticed on radio with “The Great Forever”, the singer has confirmed “Dammn Baby” as her next and fourth official single from the album.
The track was written by Janet Jackson, James Harris III, Terry Lewis and Dwayne Abernathy. It opens with echoing vocals, before the song proper kicks in with some oldschool bass synthesiser. A soulful and crafted effort, there is a breakdown that definitely switches up proceedings, a middle section, if you will, before reverting expertly.
The music video, directed by Dave Meyers, was filmed in Los Angeles on Friday, March 11, and was premiered today (Thursday, May 5). It is shot in black and white, and a tad darker during the breakdown. Janet and her backing dancers choreograph not exactly the most ground breaking routine you will ever see, but it suits the audio well and is quite original.
