Jason Isaacs Hops Aboard The ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Train! | TV News

It hasn’t been long since the start of production on the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery television series was announced, but details continue to come to light. Earlier on, Jason Isaacs confirmed his casting in the series as Captain Lorca, who helms the Starship Discovery. He will fill in the major role opposite lead, Sonequa Martin-Green, who will play Lt. Commander Rainsford.

The actor, better known to some as Harry Potter’s Lucius Malfoy or The Patriot’s Colonel William Tavington, is only one of many new characters set to debut in the upcoming series. Fans of the original franchise can expect a fantastic new ship, dynamic new faces and outrageous new missions that explore new directions but still show faithfulness to the ideology of the original Star Trek.

Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman are creating and producing the show, with production also falling under Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth. Everything is done under CBS Television Studios.

Star Trek: Discovery is currently contemplating a late summer or fall debut, with distribution set to release the series on Netflix.
