Jeff Goldblum To Return As Dr. Ian Malcolm In ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel | Film News

Perhaps Jeff Goldblum wanted to get the bad taste out of his mouth that appearing in Independence Day: Resurgence last year gave him, as he’s signed on to reprise his Jurassic Park role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in the currently titled Jurassic World 2.

Goldblum will team up with returning cast members Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong alongside new director J.A. Bayona to bring an even larger nostalgia factor to the film. There’s no word yet on how large the role is, but it’s bigger than a cameo and smaller than a starring role, so take from that what you will.

The sequel is currently filming, with word from Pratt describing it as a “scarier version” and “a little bit darker” than its predecessor. Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly wrote the script.

Jurassic World made $1.67 billion worldwide, it probably didn’t need too much help getting butts in seats. But no one’s going to be complaining at the addition of Goldblum back in one of the roles that made him an unexpected star in the 90s. Bring on $2 billion.
