Jeremy O Harris is a man of many talents, an actor and playwright known for plays such as Daddy and co writer for fan favourite Teen drama Euphoria starring Zendaya, among other talented youth. Besides these ventures, Harris has been named one of Pride50 by Queerty for his efforts in actively promoting equality as well as receiving 12 nominations at the 74th Tony Awards.

With all of his achievements, one would assume he would have taken some time to rest among the Covid 19 pandemic that hit the world. That is far from the truth though, instead carefully taking the time to invest into creative avenues. We have now been unexpectedly blessed with his new gender neutral collection with Canadian e-commerce site SSENSE.

Harris incorporates his exciting skills of playwright into the capsule collection. The actor states “The entire collection is a play, it’s a 15 line monologue and if you were to get every piece of the collection, you would have the full text of the play”.

If you were wondering what inspired Harris designs for the collection, then look no further than the romantic drama Phantom Thread. Harris shares “I love the idea of someone putting hidden messages inside of clothing, so I wanted it to be sometimes explicit, and sometimes a surprise to the wearer”.

The 1950’s inspired film Phantom Thread wasn’t the only place Harris drew inspiration from. He noted credible persons such as jazz singer and actress Ethel Waters, photographer Tyler Mitchell, anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston and American writer Janicza Bravo among others.

It should be of no surprise that Jeremy O Harris launched a fund in May to help those struggling with work among the theatre community. Being a generous individual he has donated his royalties to The Bushwick Starr’s Pet Project Grant.

Harris is a very passionate young man and this emotion can be witnessed first hand in the SSENSE WORKS video directed by the talented Joshua Kissi. The video catches Harris in his finest moment.
