John Krasinski Will Return To Direct ‘A Quiet Place 2’ This Summer | Film News
John Krasinski was already on board to write the screenplay for A Quiet Place 2. But fans can now breathe an even larger sigh of relief, as Deadline reports that he will also be returning to direct the sequel. Krasinski himself broke the news on Instagram:
He also revealed when the sequel will arrive in cinemas: May 15, 2020. Star Emily Blunt has also signed a deal to return for the follow-up. The first film went on to earn critical acclaim and over $175 million at the box office. While A Quiet Place wasn’t exactly a film that cried out for a sequel, a follow-up to a hit that doesn’t cost much to make was a no-brainer decision for Paramount to make.
It will be interesting to see whether Krasinski and co. can capture the magic of the first film. With the novelty of a lack of dialogue worn off, and the monsters now out in the open for audiences to see, he might have to get creative to make the sequel work. There was plenty of originality in the first film though, and with the world building now established, perhaps we will see a larger scope this time.
The film will head into production this July.
