Jonathan Majors To Star In Netflix Film ‘The Harder They Fall’ | Film News

Jonathan Majors has signed on to star in The Harder They Fall for Netflix. Jeymes Samuel, better known in the music business as The Bullits, will make his directorial debut with the project. He previously collaborated with Jay-Z – a producer here – on The Great Gatsby soundtrack.

Majors will star as an outlaw named Nat Love, who discovers that the man who murdered his parents two decades ago is being released from prison. Reuniting with his gang, he plans to track the man down and exact his revenge.

Casting is reportedly moving quickly. Idris Elba has been rumoured to be circling the project, but nothing is confirmed at this point. Majors however, is having a moment. He can currently be seen in the critically acclaimed drama The Last Black Man In San Francisco, which broke out at Sundance this year and has now gotten a release by A24.

He also just wrapped on Spike Lee‘s Da 5 Bloods, a war drama that also stars Chadwick Boseman and Jean Reno. Netflix are on board to distribute that as well. On top of that, Majors also has the drama Jungleland hitting cinemas later this year. He stars alongside Charlie Hunnam and Jack O’Connell.

And guess what? He has another big project in production right now: Jordan Peele‘s Lovecraft Country for HBO. Majors stars alongside Jurnee Smollett-Bell there. So yeah, things are happening for him. We’ll wait and see whether The Harder They Fall becomes another forgettable film on the Netflix Originals heap, or another stepping stone towards Majors becoming a major star.
