‘Jumanji 3’ Is Coming In 2019 | Film News

It was the surprise hit of last year. Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle hit theaters in December last year. It competed against Star Wars: The Last Jedi and surprisingly did extremely well at the box office run. Now it seems like Sony Pictures is willing to step again into the race of franchises, Star Wars against Jumanji, next year.

At CinemaCon Tom Rothman, the chairman of Sony Pictures, confirmed the release date for the sequel is December 2019. He also announced that Dwayne Johnson will return for the sequel. As for the moment, there isn’t any word about the rest of the cast but it seems likely that they will also return to the set.

The question is if they really know what they are competing against. Even if they did well against Star Wars last year, it isn’t certain that they will again in 2019. Also, they will have to compete against the film adaption of Wicked too. We will have to wait until next year to see if their success will be repeated.
