Having made her way up the Hollywood ladder through scene-stealing supporting roles in such films as Guardians Of The Galaxy and Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, Karen Gillan is ready and set to headline her own film. She’s signed on to star in the action-thriller with an eye-catching title, Gunpowder Milkshake.
The film will be directed by Aharan Keshales and Navot Papushado, who helmed the impressive 2013 Israeli black comedy-thriller Big Bad Wolves. The duo have also penned the script alongside Ehud Lavski. Little is known right now about the project, but it has been described as an assassin story that spans multiple generations.
Comparisons have been made within the industry to Kill Bill and Baby Driver, with “stylish, snappy and violent” being the key watchwords. Gillan will be the cornerstone of what is expected to be an all-female cast, and production is expected to begin in Berlin this spring after Gillan concludes work on the upcoming Jumanji sequel.
This marks another key step for Gillan’s career trajectory. She already has a directorial debut under her belt – an indie titled The Party’s Just Beginning – and she’s set to be a key player in this year’s Avengers: Endgame, too. She’s more than ready to lead her own film. Let’s hope Gunpowder Milkshake lives up to its memorable title.
