Kendrick Lamar Reveals ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ Album Title + Artwork | Music News

West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar has confirmed his new album title To Pimp A Butterfly. The record will be his second major label album and will follow his 2012 release Good Kid, MAAD City. It has been confirmed it’ll be released on 23rd March. Lamar describes the record as “honest, fearful and unapologetic” and says that the meaning of the album’s title will “be taught in college courses someday“.

Lamar continues: “You take a black kid out of Compton and put him in the limelight, and you find answers about yourself you never knew you were searching for. There’s some stuff in there, man. It’s a roller coaster. It builds“. In a recent interview with NME, he spoke about the LP saying that the songs “range from the intensely personal to the swaggeringly aggressive“. Lamar will also perform at Wireless Festival in July, alongside Drake, Avicii, David Guetta and Nicki Minaj. The event begins July 3 and will conclude on the 5th of July at Finsbury Park in London.
