Kevin Smith Criticises ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Trailer | Film News

Following last week’s rather unpopular trailer launch for Ghostbusters, Jay and Silent Bob actor Kevin Smith has slammed the reboot, stating the trailer cut creator needs to be “sat down” and “scolded”. Starring Melissa McCarthy (Abby), Kristen Wiig (Erin), Kate McKinnon (Jillian) and Leslie Jones (Patty), the film follows the quartet as they attempt to save the world from Rowan (Neil Casey) – a mysteriously evil and powerful demon.

Speaking on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast with Ralph Garman, Smith explained: “Whoever cut this trailer needs to be sat down, and I’m not going to call for their job to be taken away from them, but they need to be scolded”. He continued, pointing out the trailer had nothing do to with the all-female angle: “It could have been all men with the same jokes and it still would have sucked”.

Despite his criticisms, Smith remained optimistic about the movie, revealing how those involved will definitely make the film “watchable” and “fun”: “The trailer’s not strong, and that doesn’t mean the movie’s gonna blow, the pedigree of this movie is undeniable. There’s no way all these people involved don’t make a f**king funny, at least watchable fun movie.”
