Kristen Stewart To Play Lady Diana In New Biopic ‘Spencer’ | Film News
The Twilight girl Kristen Stewart has decided to surprise us again! Indeed, she will be playing none other than Lady Diana Princess of Wales in a new film.
This biopic Spencer will focus on December 1991, six years before her death and one of the last moments of the princess being a member of the royal family – when she decided to end her marriage with Prince Charles.
This Princess Diana and Prince Charles storyline was recently portrayed in The Crown by Emma Corrin and Josh O’ Connor, and for his portrayal, Pablo Larrain Has cast Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris alongside Kristen Stewart to play members of the Royal Family.
According to Kristen: “It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name: Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her.”
The filming will take place between Germany and the UK and might be released in autumn 2021, barely a year before the 25th death anniversary of the princess.
The producer said: “We are extremely grateful for the support of our distributors worldwide, our partners and funders who have shown tremendous commitment to us in these extraordinary times”.
“With Kristen Stewart, Steven Knight and the rest of our fantastic team both in front and behind the camera, we are bringing Spencer to the world. It is an independently produced film made for the big screen about an iconic woman’s declaration of independence. We couldn’t be more excited.”
