Lakeith Stanfield Will Be Tybault In ‘Prince Of Cats’ Movie | Film News

It will be the remake of the remake, but one of the pearls of British – and I would add – international literature could well and truly pay off and is definitely a good start.

Prince Of Cats is a 144-page graphic novel written by Ronald Wimberly and published in 2012. It is basically a kind of hip-hop retelling of William Shakespeare‘s Romeo and Juliet moved from Verona to Brooklyn, that focuses on Tybalt (derisively referred to as “the Prince of Cats“) and his Capulet crew as they do battle nightly with the hated Montagues.

Now, the book will be turned into a movie, and the protagonist has just been announced. The role of Tybalt will be played by actor Lakeith Stanfield – who has recently acted in the movie Sorry to Bother You, and TV series Atlanta.

Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, former editor-in-chief of The Source, will adapt the original story from the book and this will be the occasion to enjoy another modern representation of the classical love tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, years after the unforgettable DiCaprio‘s interpretation.

Accordig to Stanfield Instagram page, he’s pretty excited about the role, which will add another great point to his acting carreer after such an intense period. Stay tuned for further anticipations.
