Letitia Wright To Star In Agnieszka Smoczynska’s English-Language Debut ‘The Silent Twins’ | Film News

Black Panther breakout star Letitia Wright has signed on to star in The Silent Twins, the English-language debut from Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Smoczynska. She will star alongside rising actress Tamara Lawrance (The Long Song) from a script penned by Andrea Seigel (Laggies).

The screenplay is based on the book of the same name by investigative journalist Marjorie Wallace. The chilling true story follows twin sisters who were entirely silent, communicating only to each other in a private language. They became obsessed with writing fiction, boys, and crime in their teens but their intense bond ultimately turned into something more dangerous.

The film will shoot in April and is being financed by Kindred Spirit, who produced The Farewell.

Wright is potentially on the precipice of true stardom. She stole the show in Black Panther – even more impressive considering that film had a host of star-making performances – and went on to appear in an Avengers movie. She got nominated for an Emmy for her role in a Black Mirror episode, and will next be seen in Death On The Nile and will also star in Steve McQueen‘s upcoming drama series, Small Axe.

Smoczynska previously directed the strange mermaid film The Lure, which won Sundance’s Special Jury Prize. She followed that up with the Under The Skin-esque Fugue. Both of those films are proof that she has a distinct, original style, and it will be fascinating to see how that style translates. With The Silent Twins, she has a immediately engaging true story to work with.
