Lewis Capaldi And Dave Lead 2020 BRIT Award Nominations | Music News
The full list of nominations for the Brit Awards 2020 has been announced.
Leading the way with four nominations each are Lewis Capaldi and Dave, who are both in the running for best male solo artist, best newcomer, best single and album of the year. Dave is looking to be the strongest contender in the best album category, having already won the mercury prize for his debut album Psychodrama.
Mabel and Stormzy follow closely behind with three nominations each. Stormzy has received nods for best male solo artist, best single, and best album, while Mabel is a contender in the best female solo artist, best single, and best new artist categories.
Harry Styles and Michael Kiwanuka, who have both received two nods, are the only other artists with more than one nomination. Ed Sheeran, for example, received just one nomination this year.
Rather than announcing the contenders via press releases or articles, the nominees were announced last night via a live television special on ITV. Broadcaster and presenter Alice Levine hosted the show, and the evening saw performances from Liam Payne, Mabel, Aitch, Freya Ridings and Dermot Kennedy.
This year will mark the fortieth Brit Awards ceremony, and will take place in London’s O2 Arena on February 18. For the third time, Jack Whitehall will host the event.
