Lil Yachty Releases New Mixtape ‘Michigan Boy Boat’ | Music News

American rapper Lil Yachty has released a new mixtape titled Michigan Boy Boat. This mixtape has 14 different tracks highlighting rappers from Detroit and Flint in Michigan, such as Sada Baby, Babyface Ray, Tee Grizzley and Rio Da Yung OG.

The mixtape has been long teased for months and even got a trailer for its release in the last few weeks to get us to know the reasons behind the name of the album as well as the reasons that pushed the rapper to give light to these artists.

As Lil Yatchy explains in a recent interview: “I found a love for Michigan, you know what I’m sayin’? The city itself is just a vibe that’s unmatched. I established this relationship, I was a fan of all these guys all throughout Michigan, not just Detroit“. The goal here for ‘Michigan Boy Boat’ is to help them have a platform, to help them build their career.

The album is the follow-up to his 2020 album Lil Boat 3, which debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Lil Yachty has been collaborating with Michigan-based artists for years. In 2017, he teamed up with Tee Grizzley for “From the D to the A”, and has previously worked with other artists that are currently featuring in his latest album.

Lil Yachty was born and raised in Atlanta, but he’s always had a special relationship with, and interest from Michigan State, and specifically Detroit and Flint. This new mixtape sees him paying homage to the Great Lakes State and some of its artists.
