Chanel No.5 is undoubtedly the most famous perfume in world, yes the perfume that Marilyn Monroe confessed to wearing whilst sleeping – just Chanel No.5. In addition, No.5 films are truly works of art; past directors including Ridley Scott, Luc Besson, Kathryn Bigelow and Martin Scorsese. Not only are the directors among the famous and powerful, the muses are too including Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Deneuve, Audery Tautou, Carole Bouquet and Nicole Kidman.


This year Baz Luhrmann returns to the director’s chair with Gisele Bundchen as the new face of the Chanel No.5 visual campaign titled ‘The One I Want’. His previous work for Chanel No.5 includes the 2003 ad campaign which featured Nicole Kidman. Luhrmann said of the campaign at the time, “what I can make you is a two minute trailer…for a film that has actually never been made, not about Chanel No.5 but Chanel No. 5 is the touchstone”.


Coco Chanel’s obsession for the number five, lead to the initial launch being on May 5, 1921, but the new campaign does not seemingly continue with this superstition, with the ‘The One I Want’ teaser premiering on on the 13th of October in New York. Models Karlie Kloss, Gisele Bunchen, Poppy Delevinge, Crystal Renn and Lily Aldridge, plus Karl Lagerfeld, Baz Luhrmann, and singer Lily Allen, were all at the event.


Lily Allen and Crystal Renn stood out immensely, their outfits portrayed their personalities. Lily’s was mischevious fun while Renn was bold sex appeal. Lily’s dress was from the Resort 2015 collection accessorised with black platform boots and lime socks. Crystal befittingly wore Chanel, a black velvet gown styled with a Chanel clutch.
