Lollapalooza Is Officially Returning To Chicago This Summer | Music News

The mythical Lollapalooza festival is set to take place this year. On July 29, the music festival will be held in Grant Park at full capacity for 4 days of madness.

“Now, less than a year later and armed with a vaccine that is safe, effective and widely available, we are able to bring back one of our city’s most iconic summer music festivals”, said the Chicago mayor Lori E. Lightfoot.

The only requirement for attendance is to be vaccinated or to have a negative PCR test for Covid-19. The festival usually welcomes more than 100,000 visitors per day to attend over 170 shows on no less than 8 different stages. A gigantic event that requires some precautions in order not to restart the pandemic.

Moreover, this year, the festival celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. When Farrell created it, it was only a farewell tour for his band Jane’s Addiction. It became a touring festival in the early 1990s before moving to Grant Park in 2005.

But the question remains, who will be on the bill? Well the line-up will be announced on Wednesday at 10am and tickets go on sale two hours later.

The last edition of the festival in 2019 hosted artists such as Childish Gambino, Twenty One Pilots, Ariana Grande and Flume. This year, as it reopens and celebrates the return to normal life, we can only expect a spectacular line-up.
