Los Angeles Pop Rock Band Good Terms Unveil New Single ‘Cough’

Good Terms, the rising Emo Pop band from Los Angeles, is back with their new single “Cough”, further solidifying their place in the alternative music scene.

This release follows their successful previous singles “Old Friend” and “Drive-In”. A visually captivating music video directed by Ryan Blewett, recognized for his work with 100 Gecs and Plain White T’s, accompanies this latest release.

“Cough” delves into introspective territory, exploring the tension between desiring substantial improvement in life and merely seeking comfort in one’s circumstances. The raw emotional intensity that Good Terms expertly captures through their poetic lyrics is palpable in this track.

The lead vocalist, Brian McShea, describes the song’s genesis as a moment of reluctant catharsis. Amid family mementos, he wrote most of the song during a late-night coffee break, revealing an unvarnished self-reflection.

“Cough” lays bare Brian’s internal conflict over seeking cheap, momentary distractions that don’t necessarily address the root of his issues. His struggle with the fog of distraction and the desire for a fresh start serves as a relatable sentiment for many listeners.

Known for their distinctive heavy emo-pop sound, Good Terms brings a celebratory and cathartic vibe to the alternative music scene. Their tracks blend catchy melodies, emotionally charged lyrics, and exceptional musicality that resonates with audiences across generations.

Good Terms plans an exciting year of new releases throughout 2023, each single promising to be unique and further building upon their signature sound. Their momentum follows the viral success of their “Jump” cover and their debut album “Turning Point”, released independently in 2021.

The band’s approach blends elements of easycore and sadboi pop punk, providing a robust foundation for their musical exploration. But rather than resting on their past successes, Good Terms is looking forward, eager to innovate and redefine the future of their genre.

With their mature sound and vision, this friendly neighborhood emo band is ready to conquer the global music stage. Watch their video for “Cough” below!
