Beatles Demo Discovered McCartney

The 1964 song, “It’s For You”, was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon for Cilla Black. She passed away last year and while her family was going through her belongings they found the original demo which features McCartney on vocals.

Her family decided to showcase the recording to The Beatles Shop in Liverpool, England.

The store manager knew this was a big thing: “I was shaking with excitement and speechless. Apart from a few crackles that you get with acetates, the quality is fine. It’s a wonderful recording,” said Stephen Bailey to the Liverpool Echo.

You can buy the demo on Saturday, August 27 at the annual Liverpool Beatle Memorabilia Auction. There’s a 20-second clip of the song on the Beatles Auction website, here.
