Madison Paris – Excuse | New Music

Off the back of her impressive debut single “More“, R&B singer-songwriter Madison Paris is continuing her steady trajectory to greatness as we are treated to some more new music with her timely follow up entitled “Excuse”.

This latest cut is embodied by the duality between the hip-hop sonics at the core and her soulful yet gritty vocals layered on top, which also sweetly caress the piano chords right at the chorus. Teaming with producers Miguel London and Michelin Shin on this track, they have created something that’s simplistic but truly flavourful.

Sonics aside, “Excuse” is honest, raw and focuses on the trials and tribulations of being in a
relationships both platonic and romantic, and the in-balances a lot of people can relate to.

On her inspiration, Madison says: “I think we sometimes unintentionally create a lot of obstacles for ourselves. If you really want to be with someone, you’ll make the time. That’s what inspired the line in the song: ‘the only thing that’s stopping you is you’. This track is about being tired of someone who always has an excuse.”

To me, I identify it with taking back the power from someone who constantly disappoints you and lets you down. Being strong enough to tell them you’ve had enough, and knowing you deserve better!”

Madison Paris has been championed by Rinse FM, BBC Introducing, The Beat London and Noctis Magazine as well as recently performed at Eric Festival at Somerset House back in March. There is clearly a fantastic talent here cultivating and waiting for the wider world to get a hold on. While we wait for the EP set for release later this year, make sure to follow her on Twitter and Instagram.
