Mark Rylance To Play ‘The BFG’ in Spielberg Remake | Film News

 

The classic Roald Dahl children’s book, The BFG, it getting the Hollywood treatment as Steven Spielberg takes on the story of a friendly giant, who teams up with a young British girl, to battle against giants whose diet involves young boys and girls. Now, according to Variety, Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl) has been cast as The Big Friendly Giant! Rylance, mostly known for his stage acting, will join Spielberg in early 2015 to shoot the classic tale. This isn’t the only time Spielberg and Rylance are working together though, as Rylance will play a part in Spielberg’s untitled Cold War movie project. The BFG will open in the UK in July 2016.
