Michael Baker – Past The Evening | Music Video

Michael Baker is an Anglo-French singer-songwriter. And we can feel through his music, feelings of honesty, belonging and serenity that are Michael’s hallmark. His songs are a delight, making you feel in a little cloud of nostalgia and relaxation.

He has played for BBC 6 Music and has also been recently selected by BBC Introducing London as their ‘Artist of the Week, he also supported Sarah Jarosz at Union Chapel and performed at the inaugural Black Deer Festival.

It’s All Indie wrote about him, “Flavours of Radiohead and Ben Howard come through on this melancholic ballad, which shines with an incredibly emotive honesty”. Furthermore, Mahogany Blog said “Michael Baker’s music has a raw honesty that captivates you”.

After releasing “One God Damn“ and “Baby Books“, he has released his new single “Past The Evening“, featuring visuals, from his forthcoming album Salt. It’s folk music featuring guitar and a little bit of dreamy instrumentations.

He deals in it with his feeling of music industry frustration. It’s a really intimate song connected to one of Baker’s personal life moments, but don’t worry, every musicians or artist in the world have experienced it.

It’s the first track I have ever written about how hard the music industry can be, and how thick skinned you have to be in it. I’m 30 – years-old and always thought I would have got used to the business by now , and yet here I am, and the music industry still just makes me want to hide away and ‘ just make music man’.

After it all, and to our relief, he says, “This song is my realisation that I don’t think I’ll ever stop making music“. Watch the video for “Past The Evening” here:
