Michael Jackson’s Nephew Jaafar Jackson To Play Late Star In New Biopic

Michael Jackson‘s nephew has been selected to play him in a new  biopic. Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s 26-year-old nephew, will portray the late icon in the Lionsgate biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua.

Fuqua recently confirmed something on Instagram. The musician is descended from Jermaine Jackson, a member of The Jackson 5 and Michael’s brother. Jaafar has performed original songs as well as songs by Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and other artists since he was 12 years old.

The director of Emancipation has signed on to helm Michael, which was written by John Logan, The movie is being produced by Graham King, who made the critically acclaimed Bohemian Rhapsody out of the Freddie Mercury .

The co-executors of Michael Jackson’s estate, John Branca and John McClain, will work with GK Films on the production.

The Jackson estate’s presence grants rights to Jackson’s musical catalogue, but some have questioned how protective they will be.

Nevertheless, it is obvious that certain issues must be investigated for the movie to have a dramatic edge and enough veracity to withstand scrutiny without alienating fans of Jackson’s songs and musical legacy.

Graham King, who also produced Bohemian Rhapsody, said Jaafar was chosen for the role following a global search for the ideal performer.

“It was something so powerful that even after conducting a worldwide search, it was clear that he is the only person to take on this role. I am beyond thrilled that he has come on board to portray his uncle and cannot wait for the world to see him on the big screen as Michael Jackson.” said King about Jaafar for the role.
