Mom Tudie Returns With ‘Gold’ Featuring Maya Law

South London producer Mom Tudie has released a new single titled “Gold” featuring Norwich singer Maya Law. It comes on the back of Tudie’s recent release “Better Days” in collaboration with UK rapper Sidders, which we covered here.

Coming out of the hugely creative network of friends and collaborators that has given us the likes of Tom Misch, Ezra Collective, Puma Blue, Poppy Ajudha, Mom Tudie is coming into his own and carving out a niche for himself as a key part of London’s exciting jazz scene.

The track is a hopeful offering that is driven by lush injections of trumpets and danceable percussion, and beautifully presents Mom Tudie’s jazz-inflected production, over which Maya Law lays her warm and luxuriant vocals.

Speaking about the inspiration behind “Gold”, Maya Law says, “I wrote Gold when lockdown was in full swing – for me it’s about being able to turn something sad or shitty into something great, knowing your worth – even when you’re in a bit of a slump. Working with Tom was definitely my little bit of gold in quite a lonely time during 2020“.

Mom Tudie on the other hand, adds that, “This song came out of a want to make dance music, but I always seem to subconsciously sway to the more laid back kind of stuff. I knew this would be a big tune about 10 seconds into hearing the demo vocals Maya sent to me, they just worked so well with the instrumental“.
