Monty, the rapper and singer who has proven to be Fetty Wap’s dearest collaborator, may be familiar on paper, but as a solo artist he is still very much an enigma. That will not be the case for much longer, however, as today Monty is premiering a steamy video for his new solo single, “Her”, that he hopes will mark him as his own artist.
“Her” starts off mellow and jazzy, before the deep bass plus clapping and rattling drum kick in. Even then the vibe remains laidback, just more pronounced. Certainly, in this one, you would consider Monty more of a singer than rapper. The song’s remaining moments are subterranean, as if the beat’s submerged into deep waters.
In the video, set in a darkly lit club, Monty aims to catch the interest of a woman he has got eyes for. The bass heavy aspects of the track are certainly aided with the, ahem, junk packed by the twerking lady in the video. The more sensual and sexual aspects are in contrast to some women in the video wearing creepy, horror inspired masks over their faces.
