‘Mr Ripley’ Book Series To Be Adapted For Small Screen | TV News

Late author, Patricia Highsmith’s villainous character, Tom Ripley, celebrates his 60th anniversary this year and what better way to mark the occasion than with a TV series based on the five novels in which Ripley appears. Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones) has been named as an executive producer of the new series. Whilst no specific channel details have been released, it is believed that the series will appear on a streaming platform such as Netflix.

Whilst five films have been made from the Ripley novels, this will be the first small screen adaption. Anthony Minghella’s adaption of the first novel, The Talented Mr Ripley, is perhaps the most well-known, starring Matt Damon as the identity-stealing, serial killer. Another of Highsmith’s novels, The Price of Salt, was recently adapted for the big screen by Todd Haynes. Titled Carol, the film stars Cate Blanchett and was well received at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
