Southern California multi-genre recording artist Morgan King has released her first single under her own name. This alternative pop song with some rock influence is entitled “Mirror Mirror”.
The track was written as a reflection of what is seen in the mirror, so mostly how we view ourselves. When we look in a mirror, we have a tendency to create negative images of ourselves.
Through this first single, Morgan King speaks about her own experience with the universal issues of self-image and confidence. She takes the listeners through her personal struggles with body dysmorphia.
With this new solo career, the singer would like to encourage listeners to find recovery, turn towards acceptance, and practice self-love throughout these hardships. The artist shared: “When you look in the mirror, sometimes the person staring back at you seems like a horrible monster, but through self-acceptance and self-love, we can set ourselves free from that distorted image“.
Before starting her career in music, Morgan King pursued a PhD in philosophy at the University of Wisconsin. However, when she discovered her passion, she left to pursue her dreams of writing songs and becoming a musician.
Today, she works on several projects: 88 Smiles, The Stars Lie and her solo project. She loves mixing sad and more uplifting music in her songs as well as different genres from pop, emo, and pop-punk to trap and electronic.
