A Nashville sports anchor was reportedly fired after paying tribute to Prince during a recent broadcast. Dan Phillips, of Fox 17, included numerous references to the Purple One throughout his sports report.

He said during one, quoting “Let’s Go Crazy” from 1984’s Purple Rain, “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life, an electric world life, but I’m here to tell you something else… The NHL Playoffs”.

However, following the tribute, Phillips was apparently fired by Fox 17, who felt he was being “insensitive”.

Phillips wrote on his Facebook page, “I want to thank everyone for the kind words, comments, and positive feedback on this tribute to Prince I did last week… Unfortunately, there were apparently some viewers, as well as management at the station, who did not feel the same way. They felt I was insensitive. And as a result, I was terminated today”.
