Netflix Announces Chadwick Boseman Documentary Celebrating Actor’s Life And Career | Film News

 

The late Chadwick Boseman will be featured in a Netflix documentary highlighting the actor’s career. Entitled Chadwick Boseman: Portrait Of An Artist, the documentary will be available on the platform on Saturday, April 17.

 

The documentary will look at the artist’s life before his untimely death from cancer with an intimate look at his life and interviews with some of his closest Hollywood collaborators.

 

Among them is actress Viola Davis, with whom he starred in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, who comments in the trailer: “You know you have to step up when you’re in his presence. He’s looking at your work and he’s, like, really hyper-focused, on the craft, on the process. That’s Chad.”

 

We will also be joined by Glynn Turman and Taylour Paige, also actors in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, as well as director George C. Wolfe and composer, arranger and producer Branford Marsalis. His Black Panther co-stars will also be there, including Danai Gurira and Andile Nebulane.

 

The likes of Denzel Washington and Spike Lee are also contributing, with Lee praising Boseman for the “weight, the aura” of his performance.

 

Boseman is currently nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He has already won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, with his widow Taylor Simone Ledward accepting the award on his behalf.

 

The documentary, Chadwick Boseman: Portrait Of An Artist, will be available on Netflix on April 17 for a limited time of 30 days.
