Netflix Release Japanese Trailer For Upcoming Animated ‘Godzilla’ Movie | Film Trailer

Netflix, who yesterday pledged to spend $7 billion on new content for 2018, and recently announced a slate of 12 different anime series coming to their service, are not slowing down in their bid to take over from cable and satellite networks. The anime news included picking up a new animated Godzilla film, and the Japanese trailer for the film is below.

Following 2014’s Hollywood revival, and especially the recent Shin Godzilla, interest in the colossal cultural icon is back amongst the mainstream. The trailer below certainly proves that there is more than one way to capture the essence of Godzilla, as the animation lends itself to the anarchy and terror pretty impressively.

The premise for the film is interesting, as it takes viewers long into the viewer where a now scorched version of earth has been under the reign of Godzilla for 20,000 years. The film is written by Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass) and directed by Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita.

The film will have its Japanese theatrical run later this year, so expect it to turn up on Netflix not long after that. Whether you like Netflix’s content or not, it’s fair to say they’re covering all their bases, and making sure there’s something for every demographic.
