As part of their master-plan to dominate the streaming market, Netflix have been producing their own original content. The success of these have been, for the most part, good, with Marvel’s Jessica JonesNarcos and Orange Is the New Black being standouts of the Netflix Originals. They also revived the cult film From Dusk till Dawn by making it into a series that proved popular with both fans and newbies alike. Now, Netflix have announced the latest project in their original series Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny.

For anyone who has seen the brilliant Ang Lee martial arts film from 2000, right about now you may be experiencing a slightly nervous form of excitement. You can’t be blamed: looking at the trailer it seems that Netflix are moving away from Ang Lee’s simple style to a more CGI-heavy approach. However, Netflix have shown in the past that they can successfully revive films in their own adaptions, as evidenced by From Dusk till Dawn. Also, this film does have a feather in its cap due to the fact that the plot will be taken from the fifth book in Wang Dulu’s Crane-Iron series, the books which Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was based.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny will see Michelle Yeoh return to her role as Yu Shien-Lien. Yu Shien-Lien must come out of retirement to stop a powerful enemy from getting their hands on an equally powerful sword. It is directed by Yuen Wo-Ping, the fight choreographer for The Matrix and Kill Bill, and consequently the fight scenes look particularly impressive. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny is due to be released February 26, 2016. Check out the trailer below and see what you think.
