Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese has put together a stellar movie cast that brings together, all his favourite gangsters-actors: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. The coming-soon movie The Irishman will be released on Netflix on November 27, after a theatrical release from November 1.
The movie is originally based on the book by Charles Brandt and it is Martin Scorsese’s first film since 2016. The film is set in post-war America and it’s told through the eyes of Robert De Niro, who plays the role of a World War II veteran, Frank Sheeran. He is a swindler, a hit man who works alongside some of the most famous gangsters of the 20th century.
On the crime scene, De Niro will come against his award-winning colleague Al Pacino, who will play the role of Jimmy Hoffa. While Joe Pesci will play the Pennsylvania mafia boss Russell Bufalino, who was suspected of being involved in the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. As the synopsis of the trailer states:
“Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics”.
