Ghana born senior health adviser Pinaman Owusu-Banahene is gearing up to bring African fashion to the cities of Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand in May. “I am passionate about fashion but more importantly using fashion to create social change. I believe fashion, music and dance are great art forms that enrich our experiences and challenge our deep-seated assumptions, in particular about the Continent of Africa“, Owusu-Banahene says. She has already arranged for eight African and Australasian designers to showcase their work at the festival including Sophie Nzinga Sy, Sofia Aroha, Nelly Hagan-Aboagye and Adebayo Oke-Lawal.
