Nike Strike Gold With Nigeria’s Eye-Catching World Cup Kits | Fashion News

And as if we weren’t excited for the the summer already! One of the big stories to come out from the footballing world yesterday was Nike unveiling the brand new Nigeria national team kits ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and they have literally taken the internet by storm.

Nike Football shared a video on their YouTube channel which reveals several of the national team’s star players meeting in a London location to get a first look at the team’s new attire, which all the players seemed to be impressed by.

The home kit pays subtle homage to Nigeria’s 1994 shirt (worn by the first squad to ever qualify for Nigeria) with its eagle wing-inspired black-and-white sleeves and neon green torso. The away kit is a cleaner, less bold statement, which drops in a classic green colourway that is similar to that of the more traditional Nigeria full-green strip.

“With Nigeria, we wanted to tap into the attitude of the nation,” said Dan Farron, Nike Football Design Director, in the kit’s press release. “We built this kit and collection based on the players’ full identities.”

As for the rest of the collection, it is just as eye-catching. There’s a travel suit — a tonal green floral affair as well as a track jacket matching in style to the new home kit. Also on offer are accessories including reversible bucket hats that radiate personality and designed to be mixed and matched to preference. Peep some pictures of the collection below.
