Osgood Perkins To Write & Direct Supernatural Thriller ‘Incident At Fort Bragg’ | Film News

Lionsgate has tapped Osgood Perkins to write and direct the supernatural thriller Incident At Fort Bragg. The film is inspired by the true story of world-renowned priest Malachi Martin, who was brought in by the U.S. government to perform a sanctioned exorcism on a young soldier. This incident took place in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the largest military installation in the world.

Jeff Buhler (Pet Sematary) wrote the latest draft of the script, which was originally written by Evan Turner and Harrison Query. They sold the script as a pitch that Lionsgate acquired following a heated bidding war.

Perkins is an up-and-coming genre filmmaker who is one of the most fascinating filmmakers working right now. His slow burn chillers The Blackcoat’s Daughter and I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House have been incredibly effective and put many modern horror filmmakers to shame.

He’s got a lot of projects in the works right now, but Incident At Fort Bragg sounds like something very much suited to his style. His next release though, will be the dark fairy tale Gretel And Hansel. He’s also on board to direct the thriller A Head Full Of Ghosts, based on Paul Tremblay‘s novel.

As the son of horror legend Anthony Perkins, Osgood could have easily settled in for a cushy career of directing big budget, jump scare horror. Instead he’s developed a hugely affective atmospheric style and is attached to a bunch of interesting projects. His name will only grow as his films become more widely seen and appreciated.
