Passion In The Land Of Tulips In ‘Tulip Fever’ | Film Trailer

The long-awaited trailer of Tulip Fever, starring Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan and Christopher Waltz is finally here and passionate liaison, it is going to be!

The film follows the steamy affair between an artist and a young married women. Cornelis Zandvoort (Waltz) commissions the artist, Jan Van Loos (DeHaan) to make a painting of him and his young wife, Sophia (Vikander). Jan and Sophia fall in love and plan to gamble their money on the tulip market to run away.

First footage of Tulip Fever were shown at Cannes, almost two years ago while the film was shot almost 3 years ago. Why the wait? From the look of the newly released trailer, the film looks very promising.

Apart from the impressive cast that also includes Cara Delevingne, Tom Hollander, Zach Galifianakis and Judi Dench, you could not wish for a more romantic setting! A painter, a young orphan and tulips entangled in beautiful 17th century Amsterdam.

Directed by Justin Chadwick and written by Tom Stoppard, the film is based on the novel Tulip Fever by Deborah Moggach. Chadwick, no stranger to historical romance is known for his work on The Other Boleyn Girl and is directing The Lady and the Panda, based on the amazing true story of Ruth Harkness, the american socialist who traveled to China in 1936 and brought back, in her arms, the first giant panda to the United States.

Both leads have been quite busy lately. DeHaan stars in Luc Besson‘s newest science fiction project, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, set to be released this July. Vikander will star in Lisa Langseth‘s Euphoria, which follows two conflicting sisters traveling Europe together towards a mysterious destination and in Wim Wender‘s Submergence about an Englishman held captive by Jihadist fighters in Africa.

Tulip Fever is finally hitting US theatres on August 25th. No UK release has been confirmed yet.
